Communication
I say "What did you get it for"
He says "For free, it was at the door and so I just picked it up."
"So what did you get it for?"
"Nothing, it was free, just grabbed it on the way out, it was free..."
yeah.... so... what did you get it for?
long stare at each other in the mirror.
"uh, for free"
another long stare
Now we say this phrase as a reminder that we often are speaking to each other but not hearing each other.
MONEY
All a counted for. Extra blessings are celebrated! We both want things we don't have and enjoy the things we do have.
SEX
7 years ago as newly weds I learned a lot about safe intimacy and each year has brought depth and interest and fun more than I ever anticipated.
FRIENDSHIP
As a talker drawn in by a great listener I never expected him to listen so well that he could teach me about myself and graciously assist in my continued growth and understanding of the world.
Being carefree to his heavy burdened continence has helped me be grounded and him to lighten up :)
I'm glad I have someone I can count on to legitimize my feelings, show me grace in my errors and cut through my bullsh!t.
Parenting
We aren't perfect and we aren't raising perfect kids. We love God and love each other and we hope to train our kids to see God's hand in everything, to listen to God's calling in their life, to show grace to others and to find joy in life and to glorify God with their choices.
It is surprisingly difficult. Kids don't take well to being controlled and bossed but I have to guide them and train them... fine line.
FUTURE
I'm ready and willing to change to be the wife and mother I desire to be but I'm okay where I am too. The future looks bright if the present is a reflection of the direction we are headed. I choose everyday to love my husband and children.
7 years of marriage and I can't believe how blessed I've been! I love you Matthew!
